The church was built between the half of 14th and the beginning of the 16th century. The town people built the church with their own money. The founding stone was laid in 1365. From 1380 the builder of the church was Petr Parléř. The Northern tower from 1466 burnt down and was rebuilt in 1835. The gothic towers are 80 meters high. After the fire in 1679, the church was rebuilt in a baroque style. The church was originally Hussite, after 1620 the main Roman Catholic parish church. The church is situated on the Old Town Square.
